MERA Award of Excellence in Fine Arts and Fine Crafts 2009

April 20th is the deadline for nominations for the MERA Award of Excellence in Fine Arts and Fine Crafts 2009. The Award includes a cash prize of $1000. The award was created in 2008 to recognize excellence in the arts and celebrate local visual artists and crafters who demonstrate excellence in their work. Individuals who have a professional interest in the field of fine art or fine craft can nominate a local artist for the award. The juried award will be given on the basis of artwork submitted by the nominated artist.

The prize is funded by a donation to PDCF (Perth and District Community Foundation ) by Lanark Highland residents Chris and Dave Dodge who conceived the award and by a donation from PDCF. The award is administered by MERA. MERA is an award winning arts association that operates out of the school house in McDonald's Corners on conc. #9A just off County Road 12. Activities and Workshops take place year round.

Nominees for this award must reside in the following townships: Lanark Highlands, Tay Valley, Central Frontenac or North Frontenac, town of Perth and Drummond /North Elmsley township.
