Margaret Chwialkowska 's Painting finalist in Landscape Competition

Margaret Chwialkowska's oil painting titled "Champlain Lookout " pictured above recently received an Award Certificate as Finalist in the Landscape Competition held by Canadian Brushstroke Magazine. Margaret Chwialkowska says in her interview with the magazine, "The goal of my painting is to evoke the mood of a natural setting and capture the feeling of being overwhelmed by the natural almost magical beauty of a landscape". Margaret works alla prima, blending pigments together on the canvas using a palette knife to create a loose spontaneous interpretation. Her current focus is painting local areas, predominantly the banks of Ottawa River and the hills of Gatineau near her home. Margaret Chwialkowska's work is highly collected by area art buyers. Her work is represented by Tay River Gallery in Perth as well as other fine art galleries in Canada. A number of evocative new works by Margaret are featured in Tay River Gallery's upcoming show "Summer Sizzle" which runs from July 2 to August 30th. Winter Painting: Margaret Chwialkowska comments

Winter is the most creative time for me. I also believe that I produce the most and my best work in winter months. My favorite are the snowstorm days when I can feel cut out from the outside world and totally submerged in the the world of painting. On warmer days I like to take long walks, often along the Ottawa River, hoping to find an inspiration for a next painting or just remembering the same spot yet at a different season. I love painting winter scenes, but often diverse to other subject matter.

Award winning landscape artist Margaret Chwialkowska is inspired by the Canadian landscape, particularly the Ontario rivers, and forests of Quebec. She paints in oil, "alla prima," blending pigments together directly on the canvas using a pallet knife in a loose spontaneous style creating rich sculpted scenes infused with light.
